Day 1: Fes-Merzouga
Collected
from the airport or your hotel, you will be whisked away in the direction of south,
to the famous Sahara. Our first village is Azrou, of Berber origin, located in
the heart of a natural park of 53,000acres on a limestone plateau, bordered by
forests of cedars and oaks, in the midst of ancient volcanoes. Azrou is also famous
for the presence of colonies of monkeys that live in the wild in the forest
that surround it. First stop is for coffee and pastries at Ifrane, nicknamed
the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’. We will then take the road that climbs the Middle
Atlas to the place of Zad and the town of Midelt at 1488m above sea level. We
break for lunch. As we pass from the High Atlas to the Mid Atlas on our way to Merzouga,
in the Sahara Desert, landscapes and colors will leave you speechless. From
Midelt the road continues through the gorges of Ziz until you get to
Er-Rachidia. Then we arrive to Rissani, the gateway to the desert, and from
there to Merzouga in the late afternoon. We will stop at the hotel just in time
for a quick stopover before boarding a camel and reaching the dunes of Erg
Chebbi from which you can admire a spectacular sunset. Your ultimate experience
awaits you in your luxury tents where you will dine under the stars and enjoy
the popular music of the region also called Touareg, and sleep under the light
of the Milky inside a well-equipped Berber Tent.
DAY
2: Merzouga-Dades
Today
we are off to the Todra Gorge, the most beautiful of southern Morocco, where
among other things it was featured in the film ‘Lawrence of Arabia’. Here we
stop for lunch. Continuing on, we arrive to Boumalne Dades where we drive the
25km long valley and have the opportunity to walk through lush, green
vegetation in contrast to the surrounding red rock. The buildings in adobe,
straw and mud, that dot the area, have the same colour as the rocks. Along this
valley is a whole succession of ksours - small fortified villages, in the midst
of cultivated fields and orchards. From here to the famous gorges of Dades. We
have dinner and spend the night at your luxury hotel, Boumalne Dades.
Day 3: Dades-Marrakech
After breakfast we proceed to the Valley of Roses, along the road of a Thousand Kasbah, observing the typical constructions of southern Morocco that look like castles. We will make a stop in the main town of the valley - El-Kalaa M'gouna, famous for the flowering of the damask rose flower. Its perfumes are found in many body care products which you can buy. From here we lunch at Skoura and visit its iconic. Then, off to Ouarzazate to visit the Atlas Studios where films such as ‘Gladiator’ were filmed. Then the Kasbah of Taourirt in Ouarzazate, and the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou - listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and a natural backdrop for the filming of movies like ‘Gladiator’, ‘Babel’, ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, ‘The Legionnaire’ and many more. We reach the high peaks of the Atlas Mountains, even spotting snow on some peaks (depending on season) and arrive in Marrakech to deliver you at your luxury accommodation where your dinner will be waiting for you.
