Day 1: Tangier - Fes
We
can collect you from your hotel, the ferry or the airport for an overview of
Tangier: the city of writers of the Beat generation who inspired the
likes of Paul Bowles and William Burroughs, and was home to favorite son, Ibn Battouta;
and lunch. We visit the Medina, the souks, the old and new town before our scenic
drive to Fes. Tonight you are treated as royalty staying in the famous Palais
Faraj, feasting on Moroccan fare and taking in the magical view over the oldest
and largest Medina of Africa. Sleep soundly on the idea of a day filled with adventure
beginning in the Medina. Behind a high wall, hundreds of merchants and
craftsmen sell a range of products such as dates, fish, spices, copper urns, leather
bags, coats and shoes; elaborate kaftans, babouche (leather slippers) carpets,
ceramics, bed throws, fabrics, scarves, jewellery, nougat, along with handmade musical
instruments. Visiting the Medina, you’ll step back in time, as it was hundreds
of years before.
Day 2: Fes
We
pass through El Bali square, then Bab Boujloud: one of the older important
doors, after that, we’ll go straight on to Dar Al Batha: a Moorish building
mixed with Modern Art. Our visit continues towards the Madrasa Bou Inania: the
old Koranic school where young students once learnt the sacred text from the
Quran. Our visit will continue towards the Chouara Tannery (the largest and
oldest), then Quaraouine Mosque which was built in the IX century by Fatima El
Fihtia. The visit will end at Beffarne Square where we leave the Medina via the
Semmarine. Back to your luxury accommodation to relax before dinner.
Day 3: Fes - Rabat
After
breakfast, we travel through the lush countryside of farms and olives and pass
by the King’s grand horse stables on our way to Rabat: Morocco's capital. Along
the way we’ll stop in Meknes, the smallest of the Moroccan imperial cities. A UNESCO
World Heritage Site, the city is surrounded by imposing walls. The visit starts
from the Bab Mansour Gate, then onward to the Royal stables and the Jewish
quarter. We have lunch and in the afternoon it is back on the road to the
archaeological site of Volubilis, the ancient Roman capital of this part of the
empire. Then, continue to Rabat. Visiting the city, the political and administrative
centre of Morocco, can be seen from outside the Royal Palace (Mechouar), we
view the Kasbah Ouadaya with its gardens, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, Hassan
Tower II. Dinner and overnight in luxury accommodation in Rabat.
Day 4: Tangier
Today,
we’ll return you to Tangier. After breakfast, depending on your flight
schedule, you’ll be transferred to the airport. We are at your assistance for registration
formalities and special flight needs before departure. Though just four days,
Morocco will be in your hearts as we wave you off, hoping you’ll return
sometime soon.
